Ramchandani

Assistant Professor of Accounting

University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa · Shidler College of Business · Honolulu, HI

I study corporate governance and contract theory, building analytical models of how boards and incentives shape managerial behavior.

I earned my Ph.D. in Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin in 2023, advised by Professor Volker Laux. Away from the page, I enjoy tennis, singing, and playing piano—and time with my wife, Jaclyn, and our son. Aloha.

A master’s-level course for MAcc students that examines why accounting works the way it does, not simply how to apply it. Students study voluntary disclosure, conservatism, and executive compensation while building the tools to engage with research, including game theory, experimental design, and statistics. The participation-intensive course culminates in a group project that develops the opening of an original research paper.

    Managerial Accounting and Taxation Capstone

    SyllabusSpring 2026

The managerial accounting half of Shidler’s undergraduate capstone for graduating accounting majors. Note: this course is co-taught — I only cover the first half (the managerial accounting portion). The quantitative course/instructor ratings reported for this class are combined across both instructors, so I've chosen not to post them here; the quotes below are drawn only from comments that name my portion specifically. I have redacted unrelated comments to focus on my teaching and to respect my colleague.
